Feeling Sketchy 6 - Card Sketch - Some Odd Girl

Hi guys! I'm back again with this weeks Feeling Sketchy post, and this is the first week of the new month, which means we've got a new sponsor! MMT Scrapbooking has donated a wonderful prize pack, up to the value of $25! Here is the sketch we're playing with this week -

I actually struggled a bit with this one, but I think it's because my mojo has been non-existant! Here is my card though -
Sorry about the TERRIBLE photo!
This Some Odd Girl is Gifty Gwen and she's been sitting in my box of coloured images for a couple of weeks, waiting to make it onto a card.... I used an Always Artichoke card base, layered up with Vanilla card and patterned papers from My Minds Eye (both retired collections) I then popped Gwen up using a bunch of dimensionals and then, decided it need a sentiment, so stamped Just for You in Versamark and embossed it using some pretty Zing Gold Metallic Embossing Powder.

Some Odd Girl - Thank you Mae

Hi guys! It's been quiet over here recently huh? Well, last week, I got home from work to find that my housemate had packed his things, and moved out. He'd left me a note... Yeah, so I was a bit devastated, add to that the fact that my uni assignment is due today (finished it earlier!) and I haven't had time or energy to craft.... I made this card though last night, as I needed a break....
This card started out very differently in my head.... But, I do love where it ended up! I actually coloured and paper pieced Mae (Thank You Mae stamp set) a couple of nights ago, and then lost motivation, so she sat on my desk looking up at me with those big green eyes, until I added her to a card.... The base (which is hard to see) is Crumbcake, layered with Vanilla cardstock and patterned paper from Kaisercraft and Simple Stories Fabulous Paper Pad. That big doily? It's a new addition to my ever growing die collection, one from Cheery Lynn Designs, which is a new line The Stamp Spot is carrying! I added a strip of Pool Party Ruffled Ribbon and tied a bow. The sentiment is from the Thank You Mae stamp set, and was stamped on scraps of Crumbcake card, and cut to fit. I added 6 black little rhinestones to finish off this card.
I am entering this into the Some Odd Girls monthly challenge, which for the month of May is a sketch (see below) I loved the design teams interpretations :) I am also entering this into the Ribbon Carousel's Photo Inspiration I took inspiration from the colours of the photo :) Also, a big Happy 1st Birthday to the Ribbon Carousel!!

Some Odd Girl

Hello! I have my DT post for The Stamp Spot going live today! Here is my card -
I started off with a Vanilla Cream card base, layered it up with some Lavender card stock and a piece of Eskimo Kisses patterned paper by Basic Grey. I stitched the patterned paper to the Lavendar with my sewing machine and white thread. I then layered up a MFT Die-namics woodgrain embossed fence in Kraft card and some pretty Herringbone Ribbon. The image is the Some Odd GirlsSmell the Flowers Tia and has been coloured using watercolour markers before being cut out with my Nesties. I added some Stickles to her barrette and the flower centres. The sentiment is from Stampin' Up from Just Believe stamp set. Behind the Kaisercraft paper flowers, I have cut out some leaves using this die. I added some plain silver rhinestones to finish off the sentiment, and the card.
This card fits all the criteria for this months challenge - Brown, Ovals and Stitching.  I love the different interpretations of this challenge, as none of them are even remotely similar! I can't wait to see what you do with it!

Stampin' Up! Fresh Vintage and Friends Never Fade

Hey Hey! (I recently went back through a bunch of my posts, and realised most of them start with "Hi There", so changing it up a bit!) I have a quick layered card to share today! I rarely use more than two or three layers on my cards, so this one was a bit of a deviation for me! Including the ribbon, there is 10 (!) layers on this card!!
.
I started off with a Crumbcake base, layered with Blushing Bride and then some heavily stamped Vanilla. I stamped it with the flower image from Sale-a-bration set Fresh Vintage, and the En Francais Background stamp in Crumbcake and sponged the edges. Next I cut out a scallop circle in Crumbcake, and a Circle Nestie in Very Vanilla, which got the same treatment as the background. I added two layers of ribbon, the bottom layer is the Ribbon Carousel's Vintage Seam Binding ribbon in Leather Tan, and some pretty pink ruffled ribbon. The next layers are the image/sentiment which is from Friends Never Fade, and has been stamped in Wild Wasabi and layered on to Vanilla and then Crumbcake, this was popped on with a bunch of dimensionals. I added three paper roses in pink and three pearls to finish off this card.
I am entering this into three challenges, the first is the sketch over at The Ribbon Carousel, next is the Tuesday Trigger from Moxie Fab World and finally, the Bit O'Green challenge at Simon Says Stamp challenge blog.

We're about half way until my blog candy is drawn, so do get in before the 31st :)

Stampin' Up! I heart Hearts and I create a Valentines Card

Hi guys, and to all my Aussie followers Happy Australia Day! I'm listening to the hottest 100 today, and relaxing around the house :) I feel like I've neglected my blog lately... but I do have something new to show you!
This is a Real Red card base, layered with Very Vanilla and Real Red Designer Series Paper (Brights Stack) and some lovely Vanilla Seam Binding Ribbon. I stamped the sentiment in Early Espresso and the hearts in Early Espresso and Real Red. The circle and hearts have been attached using dimensionals :) A fairly simple Valentines Card.
I am entering this into the Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes Challenge :)
Thanks for dropping by.

Stampin' Up! Sale-a-bration Sneak Peek Everyday Enchantments and Friendly Phrases

Hi guys! I have a couple of cute projects to share with you today. First up is a desk calendar
And, there is a matching card! This is super unlike me, I don't usually make anything so matchy matchy...
So, these are made with the same "ingredients", Poppy Parade card bases, Everyday Enchantments Designer Series Paper (A sneak peek at Sale-a-bration 2012!), Pool Party Ruffled Ribbon, Beautiful Wings Embossolits and the stamp set I used is Friendly Phrases. The designer series paper is absolutely to die for! I looked at it in the Sale-a-bration catalogue, and I didn't particularly like it, the colours seemed a bit weird together, Lucky Limeade, Pool Party, Peach Parfait, Calypso Coral, Poppy Parade, Very Vanilla and Soft Suede. But, when I saw it in real life, it exceeded my expectations!
So, how do you get the Everyday Enchantments Designer Series Paper? Well, just spend $100 between the 24th January 2012 - 31st March 2012, and you can receive it for free! It is limited release, so once Sale-a-bration is over, it's gone for good! So, get out your wishlists, and let me know if there is anything I can help you with!

Stampin' Up! The Open Sea and I create a Masculine Birthday Card

Hi again! I promised I'd be back to show a scrap page, I do have one ready made and right to post, just I wanted to share this card first :)
This is a fairly basic card, with a card base made out of Soft Suede, layered with some Not Quite Navy, which I ran through the Big Shot with the Stripes embossing folder. Once it was embossed, I scuffed it up a bit using the Distressing Essentials kit and then sponged the edges in Not Quite Navy. I punched some tiny holes into the Not Quite Navy piece and put some tiny little silver brads through, then I tied some Vanilla Seam Binding around it and finished with a bow. The image panel is a piece of Very Vanilla, stamped in Crumbcake, Soft Suede and Not Quite Navy, using The Open Sea stamp set. The sentiment is from Upsy Daisy, I really like the sentiments in this set because they aren't overly ornate or fussy, perfect for masculine cards :)
My favourite recipe for a masculine card comes from my wonderful upline Linda Higgins I took this from her blog
There is a belief out there that cards for men are tricky to do. Actually I think that if you have the right stamp set, and the right colours, then it becomes relatively easy. Add some twine for texture, or some metal for strength.... and the job becomes even easier.

I find her words to be especially true with The Open Sea stamp set, it comes together so easily!
I am entering this into two challenges, the first is the sketch challenge over at Stamping 411, I'm also entering this in the Moxie Fab World Maps challenge, and the Simon Says Stamp Spots or Stripes challenge
Thanks for stopping by!

Stampin' Up! The Open Sea (Summer Mini Release) and I create a masculine Card

Hi guys! I have another card to share today, one that uses a stamp set from the newest Summer Mini catalogue, it is the first time I have actually inked up this stamp!
I used a Crumbcake base, which I layered with some lace dyed using a Soft Suede ink refill. The main image is Vanilla card stock, and it has been distressed, and stamped using Crumbcake, Soft Suede and Early Espresso, using The Open Sea stamp set. I have layered it on some distressed Soft Suede. The sentiment is from Grunge Rock, which is a great masculine set.
I am playing along with Chupa's Sketchbook Saturday challenge, and the Do You Stack Up, something old challenge.

Thanks for dropping round,
Happy Stamping!

Stampin' Up! Welcome Christmas and I make a quick and easy Christmas Card

Hi guys! This was the second card I made last night
This is one of my newest acquisitions from Stampin' Up! It's a beautiful Christmas set, that includes a few silhouettes, two big sentiments, and this really pretty wreath. I used a piece of Very Vanilla card stock, stamped the wreath in Old Olive, and then with some red stickles, popped some berries on top. The sentiment is one from Gelatins and I have stamped it on some Vellum in Real Red and attached it to my card base using some Stampin' Up! Glitter Brads. I think this fits my criteria for a Christmas card, easy to make multiples :)

I am entering this into the challenge over at Clean & Simple as I followed their sketch. :)

Stampin' Up! Delicate Doilies and I create a card for a friend.

Hi! Today, I finished uni for the semester, and now have three months off before heading back in the new year... So, I came home, relaxed, and was inspired to do some watercolouring, thanks to one of my favourite blog buddies, Annmaree... I made this card
So, I sat with this GorJuss stamp, which I bought a while ago, but haven't coloured very often, as I find her a little difficult to colour nicely... I started off by using darker colours for her clothes, but ditched that idea and switched to pastels instead. I coloured her using my Stampin' Write Markers, and a Blender Pen. Once she was coloured, I cut her out (in two pieces, cause I liked the hair on the first one with dark clothes... typical...) I then sat her to the side to create the rest of the card. The card base is Certainly Celery, layered with a piece of Very Vanilla which has been stamped with the Doilies from Delicate Doilies in So Saffron, Certainly Celery, Pink Pirouette and Sahara Sand. I cut out a scallop circle using the Bigshot, and then embossed it using the Polka Dot embossing folder, and sponged the edges before attaching it to the stamped piece. I then popped the GorJuss image using a whole bunch of dimensionals on the back. Finally, I stamped the sentiment, which is from Hero Arts using Certainly Celery ink and cut it out using my oval punch, I then attached it to a Decorative Label punchie in So Saffron, three little pink rhinestones finish off this card.
I am entering this into three challenges, the first is the Moxie Fab World Celebrating Relationships Challenge, which I chose a card to send to a girlfriend, although this could be for anyone. The second challenge is the Mojo Monday sketch challenge, and last but by no means least, the Lollipop Ladies Sour Worms challenge, with twist of Sparkle... I took my inspiration from the colours, I just muted them a little to work for me :)
As always, thanks for dropping in, I appreciate every comment made, they truly do make my day!
Happy Stamping!

Stampin' Up! Upsy Daisy and I create a Vintage Thank You Card

Ok, so I'm not really a vintage card maker, it has something to do with the fact that I like my cards to have nice clean lines and not overly embellished.... but, I made one that I'm quite happy with :)
This is a Soft Suede card base, which has been sponged around the edges, I have added a strip of Daffodil Delight Pattern Stack Designer Series Paper which was also sponged with Soft Suede to tone it down a bit... I then focused on my main image panel, which has been embossed and sponged, using the Emboss Resist technique, which has come back into fashion :) I used the Upsy Daisy silhouette and sponged it in Peach Parfait, Daffodil Delight, and Soft Suede. The text stamp is from my stash, and I thought it worked well with the vintage theme I was going for. I stamped my sentiment, using my Stampin' Write Markers to selectively stamp only half the sentiment, from Upsy Daisy. I attached a little bit of vintage vanilla lace, and a button to finish this card off.
I am entering this one into two challenges, the first is the sketch challenge over at The Sweetest Thing, and secondly to a new one for me, Simply Stampin'  Challenge, which was the colourse Peach Parfait, Daffodil Delight, Soft Suede and Very Vanilla
I also have another card to show you in this post, one that has Stampin' Up! card stock, but the rest from other companies on it...
This is a Whisper White card base, which I have layered with Baja Breeze and Crumbcake. The teddy is my favourite, he is a Tatty Teddy stamp I bought a while ago, but this is the first time he's made it onto a card! The wording is from one of my dear craft friends, who owns a Cricut...
I am entering this card into the Card Patterns sketch... which, I think if you turn it on it's side, it kind of looks like... I sat there with the sketch next to me, so I tried :)
Ok, that's all from me for tonight...
Happy Stamping! And, don't forget my Blog Candy!

Stampin' Up! Vintage Vogue and I create a Thank You Card

I'm back! The postman arrived with some stamps I'd bought from a friend in the states, so I had to play with them... This card is my first time using anything by Papertrey Ink... *in love*
This is a fairly basic card.... I used a Crumbcake card base, layered it with some retired Stampin' Up! Designer series paper, and a piece of vellum. I stamped the sentiment from Vintage Vogue on a piece of scrap Vanilla, and Island Indigo ink. The butterfly is from Papertrey ink, and has been cut using the matching die, and stamped. I then water coloured him using Bashful Blue, Marina Mist and a tiny little bit of Tempting Turquoise with my Stampin' Write Markers and a blender pen.
I am entering this into the Clean & Simple sketch challenge, and the Simon Says Stamp anything goes challenge
I'll be back later with one more card :)
Happy Stamping!

Stampin' Up! I {Heart} Hearts and I make a fun Hello! Card

I love cards to send out a quick hello, I'm thinking about you today... So, last night when I sat down to craft (instead of sleeping) I made this one
I have used a Marina Mist card base (not a colour I use very often!) and layered it with some Crumbcake (Kraft) and some patterned paper that has been in my stash for ever. I then stamped some hearts from I {Heart} Hearts in Marina Mist, Crumbcake and Sahara Sand, cut them out, and layered them on the patterned paper. I added some punchie hearts to fill. The sentiment is a new one I just received in the mail, and is a Hero Arts one.
I am entering this into three challenges, the first is the Freshly Made Sketches weekly sketch, which actually had me baffled for some time... The second challenge is the Play Date Cafe colour challenge, oh I liked this one :) and lastly, the Simon Says Stamp free for all, anything goes.
Thanks for dropping by!
You may have noticed, I've added a link to my etsy shop on the right, so if anything catches your eye, just pop over and have a look :)

Stampin' Up! Watercolouring with There She Goes Stamps

Ok, so I've been in the mood for watercolouring lately, and haven't been doing many clean and simple cards, but today, I have a clean and simple creation to share
I won a gift voucher for There She Goes stamps, so I bought this ^ set, which is called Dance and one which is called Hibiscus. I stamped the flowers using Staz On onto watercolour paper, and then coloured them using my Stampin' Write Markers and a blender pen. Once I had coloured all three images, I drew a border around them and mounted them on to Black Cardstock, and then they were each mounted on Very Vanilla card base. The sentiment is from Stampin' Up! Trendy Trees.
I have taken inspiration from Iwona and her card which can be seen here. I was going to enter this into the TSG challenge, but, by the time I went to link it up, it was closed.... Darn, too slow *sigh*
I will be entering it instead in to Clean & Simple Sketch and CAS-ual Fridays Colouring challenge.
Thanks for dropping by, don't forget, if you're an Australian, head on over to my blog candy giveaway here.
Happy Stamping!

Stampin' Up! Zoo Review and I create a note card for a friend

So, a lot of people know I like giraffes, I have a whole bunch of them in my house, mostly of the stuffed toy variety, including a handmade one from a wonderful friend... When I saw the 2011/2012 Stampin' Up! Ideas Book and Catalogue, and noticed there was a stamp set with a giraffe in it, said stamp set practically jumped into my hands! Now, what is a little bit sad is, that stamp set has been sitting looking at me all forlornly, begging to be inked up, and I've ignored it.... until today
I have started with a Very Vanilla card base, which I have layered with some Early Espresso, (which was run through the Big Shot, using a wood grain embossing folder), I then cut some scallops out of So Saffron and have them peeking out behind... I then focused on my image panel. I stamped the giraffe on Watercolour paper and again on a scrap of Vanilla. On the Watercolour piece, I coloured the giraffe using my Stampin' Write Markers and a Blender pen, and very carefully cut him out. On the Vanilla piece, I coloured the grass and created a shadow around my giraffe using a Sahara Sand marker. I then layered the coloured giraffe on to the vanilla piece, and finished off my image panel by sponging the edges on So Saffron and Peach Parfait. The sentiment is from the retired set, Hello, You and has been stamped using More Mustard and Pumpkin Pie Markers. This card was finished off with a piece of Vanilla Seam Binding (I love this stuff) and a bow tied.
I am entering this into two challenges, the first is the CR84FN Colour challenge, which is Yellow, Orange and Brown. The second challenge is the Mojo Monday sketch.
As always, thanks for dropping by!
Happy Stamping!

Stampin' Up! Dasher and Delicate Doilies create a Christmas Card

Ok, so yesterday I promised you a second card, but I got caught up doing a whole bunch of other stuff, so didn't get around to posting it... I didn't forget about you all though :)
So, this has a few of my favourite things on it... One of the newest Stampin' Up! released ribbon, Seam Binding, the Delicate Doilies stamp set, and of course my favourite Christmas stamp, the a la carte, Dasher....
This is a Very Vanilla card base, layered with a piece of Baja Breeze which has been stamped randomly with the Delicate Doily that I thought looked most similar to a snowflake. I then wrapped a piece of Vanilla Seam Binding around the Baja Breeze and tied a bow, while incorporating my sentiment (Basic Phrases), which has been stamped in Baja Breeze. I stamped Dasher on a scrap piece of Vanilla, in Versamark, and heat embossed him using Silver Embossing powder. I then trimmed it down, and glued it on to a scrap piece of Baja Breeze. I attached it to the card front using dimensionals.
I am entering this into the Stamping 411 Sketch challenge, which came together super easily for me yesterday. I am also entering this into the Wee Memories favourite technique challenge, mine is of course embossing, whether dry embossing or heat embossing... I love the look of it.

Thanks for dropping by!

Stampin' Up! Beautiful Wings Embossolit and Curly Cute make a Birthday card!

Hi guys, I've had quite a crafty day, I have this card to show you, plus a 3D item, but it can wait till tomorrow :)
Another fairly basic card here, a Very Vanilla card base layered with some gorgeous My Minds Eye patterned paper. I cut out some butterflies in Calypso Coral, Pool Party and Pear Pizzazz and layered them on a second piece of Very Vanilla. I stamped the sentiment, which is from Curly Cute, in Calypso Coral and tied some non- Stampin' Up! ribbon around the base, I then cut out a scallop border in Pear Pizzazz and Calypso Coral and using Dimensionals, attached this to the card base. I finished this off with a few stick on diamantes.
I am entering this into two challenges, the first is from the CardPatterns sketch, instead of the fourth element, I stamped my sentiment. The second challenge is the Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger, I was inspired by the colours, and the wooden board.
Thanks for dropping by!

Stampin' Up! Trendy Trees and I create a Thank You card

Well, it is my last week of being a guest designer over at Just Add Ink, and I just want to say a massive Thank You to the wonderful ladies over there! This weeks theme is Just Add - Something that has been in your stash for ages without use... I decided on the Trendy Trees stamp set, which hasn't seen much ink lately...
I started off with a piece of white card stock, brayered So Saffron, Peach Parfait, Calypso Coral (new in colour), Real Red and a teensie bit of Cherry Cobbler. I then sponged some hills using Lucky Limeade (new in colour) I stamped the tree and sentiment (both from Trendy Trees) in black and sponged some Old Olive underneath for shadows... I layered the image panel on Cherry Cobbler and Very Vanilla, and mounted it on Lucky Limeade card base, I finished it off with some vanilla ribbon that has been in my stash since I first started card making!
Be sure to head over to Just Add Ink, and check out what the other designers have created!
Happy Stamping!

Stampin' Up! Snow Swirled, Tree Trimmings, Dasher and Contempo Christmas create a Vintage Star Album

Hi Guys, I should warn you all now, this is going to be a picture heavy post.... I have created a Christmas mini star album for an international holidays swap... luckily, I only had to make one!
So, this is the front, I used a piece of backing card you get when you order a pack of designer series papers. The album size is 4 inches square. I have covered the backing card using the Newsprint DSP, and inked the edges using Crumbcake. I stamped Dasher is Soft Suede on Very Vanilla, and mounted it on Suede. I added a rhinestone for his nose. The ribbon is non-Stampin' Up! and is almost a perfect match for Cherry Cobbler.
This is just to show you a different angle, the pages are Cherry Cobbler, followed by Soft Suede and Very Vanilla... Now the insides:
I sponged all the Vanilla pieces with Crumbcake, and purposefully left some of the pages blank, so my swap sister can insert photos, or journalling.

Other pages, like these ones, I filled with a Christmas quote or picture that I thought was really nice

This page, (below) is  probably my favourite...

Sorry about my fingers in these, the pages wouldn't sit open by themselves...

I used only 5 stamp sets and 4 colours to create this entire album, Dasher, Snow Swirled, Contempo Christmas, Tree Trimmings and a Hero Arts stamp I don't remember the name of... The colours are Soft Suede, Crumbcake, Cherry Cobbler and Very Vanilla. Here is a look at the album open, with all the pages showing.
Thanks for stopping by!
Happy Stamping
