Stampin' Up! Newsprint DSP and Sail Away for a Bon Voyage Card

I'm sad to see one of my favourite designer series papers are on the retiring list (which has things disappearing off of it quickly!) so, I know I had to have another play with it before it is gone forever...
Ok, so this card is a Crumbcake base layered with the map images from the Newsprint patterned paper which has been sponged with Soft Suede and Early Espresso. I have run a piece of Crumbcake through the Big Shot with the perfect polka dot embossing folder and sponged some Soft Suede over the top to show off the dots. Before mounting it to the card, I sewed on some buttons and attached some string looped round them and three 'banners' using Early Espresso I then mounted it, and my computer generated sentiment on to the base. I stamped the yacht from Sail Away (retired) on Vanilla and sponged it with Soft Suede, then with my scallop border punch, I made a scallop edging for the main image.
I am entering this into two challenges, the first is the Lollipop Ladies Biscotti Inspiration which also had the spin of texture, and also in to the Mojo Monday Sketch.
Ok, well I have another post to write and schedule for tomorrow. So, I better go. If there is anything on the Retiring list that you don't want to miss out on, get in quick and call through or email me your order, because once it is gone, it is gone for good.

Stampin' Up! Sail Away and I create a Masculine Card

Hi All! Back again. This time with a masculine card to share. I started this card with something completely different in mind, but this is what eventuated...
This card is fairly basic.... Not Quite Navy card base, layered with Cherry Cobbler and a piece of Night of Navy, wrapped in some twine.... The I punched a few holes and added three mini silver brads. I stamped the Sail Away image in Basic Black and mounted it on the Cherry Cobbler piece. I have intentionally left a sentiment off of this card, as I couldn't decide what I wanted it to be....
I am entering this into two challenges, the first is the Stamping 411 Sketch, and the second is the Create, Ink! colour challenge.
Until next time!
Happy stamping!

Stampin' Up! Sail Away and Botanical Gazette pair wonderfully for Masculine Cards

Ok, so you all know how much I love (love love) the รก la carte stamp Sail Away...
When I saw that the new Just Add Ink challenge had been posted, I knew I was going to reach for this great stamp. I have used the cracked glass technique, which I will be showing the girls of my stamp club in the next month. It is a great technique, just emboss multiple layers of clear embossing powder. I usually do about 4-5 layers. I then popped it in the freezer when it was still warm from the last layer. Once it has been in the freezer about 10 mins, pull it out and bend your embossed piece, this will give you the cracking. Before embossing this piece, I stamped my image, coloured it, then sponged around the edges to give it a weathered look.
Ok, onto the other deets of this card...  I have used a Crumbcake base, which I have layered with a distressed piece of designer series paper, from the new Autumn/Winter mini catalogue. This is from the Botanical Gazette collection. I then layered a piece of DSP from the Newsprint collection, which on one of the sheets has a fairly detailed 'vintage' map.... For the circle element on the Just Add Ink sketch, (see below) I used a button from my stash which fits well, I popped a sentiment from Basic Phrases (using this a lot more now...) onto a modern label punch and tied it all together with some twine.
.
Until next time,
Happy stamping!

Stampin' Up! Sail Away and I create masculine birthday cards

One of the stamps in Stampin' Up!'s Winter Mini Catalogue really appealed to me. It is an A la Carte stamp, (single stamp), Sail Away, and at only $14.95, I just had to add it to my collection
It actually arrived in my order on Thursday, but I hadn't had a chance to play with it... So, this morning, between coffees, I whipped up this one layered card. I have used the Sail Away stamp, and my Stampin' Up! Chalks, in So Saffron, retired colours Brocade Blue, Brilliant Blue and Taken with Teal. I love my Stampin' Up! Chalks to create really nice blended back grounds. I find with male cards, it is best to keep the design minimalist, so, I have left this card fairly plain. The sentiment is from Trendy Trees which has the cutest plain sayings.
If you would like any of the items from the Autumn/Winter Mini catalogue, please, do not hesitate to send me an email or call me on 0405 173 237
Until next time, Happy Stamping!
