Feeling Sketchy 6 - Card Sketch - Some Odd Girl

Hi guys! I'm back again with this weeks Feeling Sketchy post, and this is the first week of the new month, which means we've got a new sponsor! MMT Scrapbooking has donated a wonderful prize pack, up to the value of $25! Here is the sketch we're playing with this week -

 

I actually struggled a bit with this one, but I think it's because my mojo has been non-existant! Here is my card though -

This Some Odd Girl is Gifty Gwen and she's been sitting in my box of coloured images for a couple of weeks, waiting to make it onto a card.... I used an Always Artichoke card base, layered up with Vanilla card and patterned papers from My Minds Eye (both retired collections) I then popped Gwen up using a bunch of dimensionals and then, decided it need a sentiment, so stamped Just for You in Versamark and embossed it using some pretty Zing Gold Metallic Embossing Powder.

My Minds Eye Paper Pad paired with some pretty roses and Coral Ribbon and I create a Birthday Card

Hi guys! I created this card last night, and because it was getting super late, decided I'd post it today... I got distracted, but here it is!

I started off going through the My Minds Eye papers, trying to decide which one I wanted to use. I settled on this one, as I was also keen to use some scrap card I had left over from a workshop I did. The card base is Stampin' Up! Always Artichoke and layered the paper down on top. I then used some gorgeous 5/8" Coral Satin Grosgrain Double Band Ribbon from The Ribbon Carousel, as luck would have it, it matched perfectly to the flowers on the My Minds Eye paper! I then cut out a Spellbinders Nestabilities Label in Always Artichoke and a Oval in Whisper White. The sentiment is one from an unnamed stamp I bought a while back, that hasn't seen nearly enough love, and was stamped in Stampin' Up!'s Calypso Coral. I added three little white roses (which are from D-Lish Scraps) 

I am entering this into the Ribbon Carousel Anything Goes challenge and the Tuesday Morning Sketches challenge, which I followed fairly loosely. I couldn't get the 'tickets' to work for me, so I omitted them from my design...

Stampin' Up! Shimmer Paint is beautiful in the Faux Mother of Pearl Technique

I have been seeing quite a lot of Faux Mother of Pearl happening around blog land recently, so when I saw my upline Linda Higgins was hosting a class on this technique while I was on the Central Coast the other night, I had to drop in and learn how to do it myself. Here are the cards we made

This was our first sample, it is ATC sized, about 2.5" x 3.5", we have Always Artichoke as the base, then layered Rich Razzleberry and gloss cardstock, which has been given the faux mother of pearl treatment, with Soft Suede ink and White Shimmer Paint. The image is from Nature Walk, which is available in the current Autumn/Winter Mini Catalogue

Next up, this one, which is a great masculine card, it uses Early Espresso as the base card, followed by a Crumbcake piece, which has been embossed with the Tulips Embossing Folder through the Bigshot, and another piece of Always Artichoke. The image for this one is from Lovely as a Tree, and has been given the same treatment as above, except we used Crumbcake ink with the shimmer paint. The picture below might give you a slightly better view of them image panel.  

This one was my favourite of the night. We used Night of Navy through the Bigshot with the Tulips Embossing Folder again, then for the image panel, we die cut the Top Note out and made it Mother of Pearl using Baja Breeze ink. Once it had dried, we stamped the flower image from Elements of Style and coloured it with blender pens and Night of Navy and Old Olive ink. A little bit of Organza ribbon finished this one off. Crafty Challenges

Hey all, a few cards for you, for a bunch of different challenges. First up is this card

This is for the Curtain Call colour challenge, which was another difficult one... It is also for the Stamping 411 Saturday sketch. 

The next card is: 

This one is for a few challenges as well... A new one that I've found is CR84FN which was to use light pink, peach and yellow. This also falls into the Just Add Ink Summer challenge. The truth is, I'm not entirely happy with either of these, but I think I'm just being unreasonably harsh... 

On a personal note, today I got all my hair cut off! It was down to my bra strap before getting it cut.... so.... here is the new cut....
