Alley Way Stamps Fathers Day / Dad's Birthday

Hi Again! This is my second post for today, scroll down for my Feeling Sketchy DT post, or click here...  I had some time to play tonight, and needed to make my dad's birthday card (his birthday is this weekend) So, I looked online for a bunch of inspiration... I don't have a lot of masculine stamps, but I knew there was one or two hiding in my digital stamps! Here is my card -
My dad is really tough to make cards for... he isn't into any sports, except for the V8 supercar races, and he only really watches the Bathurst 1000... So sports images are out, he doesn't fish, or hunt and he isn't a huge fan of sailing or anything else. I did have one image that will be his fathers day card, but I thought I'd try some 'dad humour' for this one. I printed my mushrooms (from The Alley Way Stamps) onto white cardstock and coloured them up using my Spectrum Noir markers. Once I was happy with the colouring, I added some Liquid Pearls in white to the toadstools spots and cut out the image panel. I mounted it on some Real Red card stock and set it aside. The rest of the card is made up with Basic Grey card base, layered with Real Red card, and patterned paper from My Minds Eye. I stuck down some red grosgrain ribbon and attached two buttons on top of each other, and a mini bulldog clip finish off the front of the card... I decorated the inside of this card too...
I used the same My Minds Eye patterned paper, as well as red grosgrain ribbon and the matching sentiment from The Alley Way Stamps
I am entering this into two challenges, the first is the sketch challenge at Mojo Monday and secondly the anything goes challenge at Simon Says Stamp.
Thanks for popping by!

  1. Took me a minute to get the sentiment, but then it made me smile. I'm sure your dad will get a kick out of it. My dad is very much like yours, though he is into cooking. I think this would work for him, too!!

  2. I agree with Laurel it's a super cute card. The red really pops the grey.
