Scraptherapy March Challenges

The Scrapping bug has hit again! Over at ScrapTherapy, their monthly challenges have been posted. I was so inspired by these challenges, that I just had to participate. The first challenge was a journalling challenge, to journal around your layout, or photos. I pulled out a photo from New Years Eve 2009/2010 of my best friend and I, and created this layout. I love everything about this layout, which really doesn't happen very often. So, very happy Jess. I experimented with embossing thickers for this, as I only had white, and felt they wouldn't 'pop' off the page enough. It worked, although it came out a little spotted in places, I don't mind.
Now, the second challenge was a technique challenge, to use embossing in two different ways on a layout... this challenge perplexed me at first, I must admit, until I saw some of the ways it can be used... Thankyou Beccy.B... She suggested embossing in clear a few times, then sticking it in the freezer (who on earth thinks "yes, I'll stick my paper in the freezer"????) then when it is out of the freezer, crack it a few times, swipe it with a brown or black ink pad, wipe off the excess. This gives it an aged look... I loved the idea of this, so had to try it on this layout. I also just stamped and did some basic embossing... Note to self... Do NOT emboss anywhere near photos, it causes bubbling... (oops)
